Medical Assistant, Outpatient (Per Diem, Day Shift)
About The Position
The Medical Assistant performs non-invasive, routine technical support services under the specific authorization and supervision of a licensed physician, podiatrist, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or nurse midwife. The role supports outpatient clinic operations by preparing exam rooms, checking in patients, maintaining patient recall and continuity-of-care records, obtaining vital signs, reporting significant findings, and performing ordered venipunctures and audiometry and vision testing. Other job-related duties may be assigned. The position is per diem and day shift at Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley. Associates must receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply.
Requirements
- High school education, GED, or equivalent is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy is required.

Nice To Haves
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent combination of licensure and experience is preferred.
- Successful completion of audiometry and vision training or a CHDP certificate within six months of hire is preferred.
- Phlebotomy certificate is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Set up exam rooms and check in patients.
- Maintain a patient recall system, including a continuity-of-care log for lab tests, referrals, and transfers.
- Obtain vital signs and report significant findings and pertinent patient observations to the clinic physician.
- Perform venipunctures as ordered.
- Perform audiometry and vision testing.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
