About The Position

Apprenticely is partnering with Eras Women's Health to hire a Medical Assistant Intern for a three-month program in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This internship is designed as an on-ramp to an IT career and may lead to a full-time position. Eras is a modern, women-led clinic focused on hormonal, gynecologic, and primary care for women. The Medical Assistant (MA) is a vital part of the clinical support team, working under the supervision of the Lead RN and clinical providers. This role is crucial for ensuring smooth, high-quality patient experiences during routine gynecological visits, in-office procedures, and primary care. The MA serves as the primary point of contact for patients, responsible for rooming, taking vital signs, preparing charts, patient communication, and daily clinical coordination.

Requirements

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) preferred; candidates with demonstrated clinical experience considered.
  • Experience in a clinical ambulatory, primary care, or women’s health setting preferred.
  • Phlebotomy competency and comfort with specimen collection and processing.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced clinic day.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and basic administrative tools (Excel or equivalent).
  • Excellent interpersonal and patient communication skills — our team heavily emphasizes patient experience and customer service.
  • Willingness to grow with the clinic as service offerings and team structure evolve.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) — required

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy certification or demonstrated experience
  • Women’s health or gynecology clinical experience

Responsibilities

  • Room all patients efficiently: escort to exam rooms, obtain vital signs, and prepare patients for examination or procedures.
  • Turn over exam rooms between patients to maintain smooth clinic flow.
  • Complete chart preparation by opening encounter notes, beginning documentation, and reviewing patient intake forms as needed.
  • Assist with advance chart preparation by entering intake information into clinical profiles.
  • Draw labs and collect specimens as directed by clinical staff and if within scope.
  • Assist providers, clinic nurse, and/or lead RN during examinations and in-office gynecological procedures (e.g., chaperoning, instrument handling, patient comfort, and education).
  • Support phlebotomy and specimen collection; process, handle, and route laboratory samples per clinic protocols.
  • Administer IM/SubQ injections per provider order and under direct provider supervision, consistent with Arkansas Medical Assistant scope of practice.
  • Sterilize and maintain equipment per infection-control protocols.
  • Review and process patient letters and correspondence for providers.
  • Assist with prior authorizations for routine medications, procedures, and referrals under provider guidance.
  • Sort and integrate outside care records (from external providers, labs, or imaging) into patient charts.
  • Track and maintain stock of medical supplies to keep exam rooms and storage areas fully stocked.
