About The Position

Student Health Services serves the health care needs of OSU students. The Medical Assistant (MA) works with a multi-disciplinary team of Healthcare Professionals to provide primary care and ambulatory care, in a clinical setting to students at The Ohio State University. The MA serves as one of the primary initial contacts within clinical services; by providing patient care, obtaining patient reason for visit, vital signs, and other clinical information; assists providers with procedures; prepare exam rooms, administers injections, cares out clinical orders and documents all information in the electronic health record.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant school
  • 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Must obtain Basic Life Support- Health Care Worker (BLS-HCW) certification prior to start date
  • Previous front-line customer service experience

Nice To Haves

  • 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience
  • 1 year of work experience in an outpatient medical facility
  • Medical Assistant certification is with the approved certifications (i.e. CMA, NRCMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA)
  • 6 months of electronic health information system training or experience
  • Keyboarding training or experience
