The Medical Assistant will adhere to the Medical Assistant scope of practice, follow all policies and procedures, and maintain training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care. This role involves performing rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings. The Medical Assistant will also assist providers with procedures, perform lab-related duties including venipuncture and specimen collection, and administer medications and vaccines safely. Other duties may include medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals. The position requires cross-training for duties relevant to specialty or clinic practice and demonstrates effective communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation. Maintaining a clean work environment, ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately, and keeping areas stocked are also key responsibilities. The role requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, understanding principles of growth and development over the lifespan.
