About The Position

Dignity Health Medical Group (DHMG) is the employed physician group of Dignity Health Arizona, employing approximately 400 providers and 1200 support staff across 73 subspecialty services. DHMG is deeply involved in medical education, hosting 84 medical school students and around 200 residents and fellows in 25 academic programs, complementing clinical services with translational and bench research. The group's mission aligns with Dignity Health's focus on innovative clinical care and scholarly excellence, leveraging full access to Dignity Health hospital facilities to provide state-of-the-art patient services, including care for the poor and disenfranchised. The Medical Assistant role involves ensuring the smooth and efficient daily operations for patients and the clinical team. This includes proactively preparing patient charts, ensuring all information is obtained and up-to-date, and assisting multiple patients daily depending on physician presence. Success in this role requires enthusiasm, efficiency, and empathy for patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. and a graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or completion of an U.S. Armed Forces medical services training program.
  • Candidates who completed a program prior to February 2, 2000 can satisfy the minimum education requirements by providing evidence of direct supervision by the same physician, physician group, or physician assistant for a minimum of 2000 hours to satisfy the education requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience with computer programs utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients required.
  • American Heart Association BLS

Responsibilities

  • Keep the day running smoothly and efficiently for your patients and clinical team
  • Take the lead on proactively preparing patient charts, ensuring all information is obtained and up-to-date for those seen in our facility
  • Maintain hospital standards of zero tolerance for mislabeled specimens and collect laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol
  • Assist the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures as requested
  • Retrieve necessary equipment and supplies
  • Assist in patient/equipment preparation
  • Perform follow-up actions as directed
  • Complete hospital forms per protocol
