About The Position

Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider. Performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures. Obtain and record vital signs including but not limited to, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem. Assist providers with in-office procedures Documents patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider. May schedule patients for diagnostic testing, follows up to ensure completion of testing, and communicates with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by provider. Prepares, cleans and sterilizes instruments, maintains equipment, and keeps patient exam rooms clean, stocked, orderly, and disposes of contaminated items including sharps according to protocol. Escalates non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice administrator or healthcare provider(s). Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required. Provides for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights. Performs other duties as assigned by practice administrator, nursing supervisor, or as requested by healthcare provider(s).

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent Required
  • One (1) year minimum experience in a Clinical setting.
  • CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) required.
  • If certified, the certification must be maintained.
  • Possesses willingness to accept orders and to perform repetitive tasks.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
  • Has awareness of the need for discretion and keeping confident matters relating to the patients and their problems.
