About The Position

Our Fairview Orthopedic Surgery specialists Clinic team in Minneapolis, MN provides care for a broad spectrum of bone and joint injuries. We're here to treat Complex conditions affecting ankles, feet, hands, shoulders, elbows, and spine, as well as musculoskeletal tumors. Pediatrics to Adults. We are hiring a Medical Assistant/MA - Orthopedic Speciality Clinic! This is an onsite position at Fairview Clinic and Surgery Center - 909 Fulton St. SE Minneapolis, MN 55455. The hours are 80 hours/two weeks, with day shifts and weekend rotation. As a member of the care team, the Medical Assistant supports quality patient- and family-centered care principles through performing a variety of high-level functions within a care team to support the needs of the healthcare team and patients/families. The Medical Assistant delivers care as delegated by the physicians/authorized practitioner, or registered nurse (RN) to assigned patient populations Peds-Adults or individual patients with Orthopedic injuries. Delegates care may include (but is not limited to): medication administration, vaccine administration, injections, phlebotomy (blood draws), assisting with sterile procedures, collecting vital signs.

Requirements

Possess a Medical Assistant Diploma with proof of completion of a 160-hour externship or Certified Medical Assistant American Associate of Medical Assistants or Medical Technologist American Medical Technologists
Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)

Responsibilities

Delivers care as delegated by the physician/authorized practitioner or RN, to assigned patient population, or individual patient.
Prioritizes work based on patient acuity, available resources, patient/family preferences, provider schedule, in collaboration with the physician/authorized practitioner and other health care team members.
Performs high and low risk technical procedures defined by the clinical setting includes medication and vaccine administration, specimen collection, assistance with CPR.
Effectively communicates compliance and concerns to delegating physician/authorized practitioner/RN.
Takes action to assure continuity of care for all assigned patients.
Documents care in the medical record.
