About The Position

We are seeking experienced Medical Assistants to support U.S. Navy. This role is ideal for candidates who completed a formal, in-person Medical Assistant program, gained hands-on externship experience, and have one year, post-graduation MA experience in a clinical setting.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Graduation from a formal Medical Assistant program (6-12 months or longer, in-person instruction, in-person clinical externship, accredited or approved by the Naval Base)
Minimum of one (1) full year of Medical Assistant experience within the last three (3) years, completed AFTER graduating from a qualifying MA program
Hands-on clinical MA experience with pediatric and geriatric patients
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross – hands-on)
U.S. Citizenship required
Ability to pass all applicable background and security requirements
Two (2) professional letters of recommendation dated within the last two (2) years (one from a supervisor & one clinician or clinic admin)
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
Physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods and performing all essential duties

Responsibilities

Provide care to patients across the lifespan (Pediatrics to Geriatrics)
Prepare patients and exam rooms for visits
Review provider schedules and proactively prepare charts and documentation
Screen patients using clinic-approved questionnaires and protocols
Maintain and update Electronic Health Records (EHR) including MHS Genesis
Perform data entry for population health metrics and preventive care initiatives
Assist with administrative duties such as appointment scheduling and patient correspondence
Participate in daily team huddles and collaborative care planning
Support clinic workflow optimization and patient experience initiatives
Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant clinical environment
Assist with onboarding and orientation of new staff as assigned
