Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of working experience as a Medical Assistant in a Hospital, Primary Care, Emergency Department, or Urgent Care setting OR One of the following MA certifications at the time of hire (or must obtain within 12 months of hire): CCMA- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (verified through NHA, National Health career Association), CMA- Certified Medical Assistant (verified through AAMA, American Association of Medical Assistants, or CHP Certified Health Professionals), RMA- Registered Medical Assistant (verified through AMT, American Medical Technologists, or AAH, American Allied Health, or ARMA American Registry of Medical Assistants), NCMA- National Certified Medical Assistant (verified through NCCT, National Center for Competency Testing), NRCMA- Nationally Registered Certified Medial Assistant (verified through the National Association for Health Professionals)
  • One of the following: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, LPN or LVN at the time of hire (verified through state license), EMT- Emergency Medical Technician (verified through state certification and/or the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians), Paramedic (verified through state certification and/or and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians)
  • CPOE certification required within 2 weeks of hire if MA certification is not obtained at hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)

Responsibilities

  • Register patients and verify insurance and documentation
  • Schedule appointments and process co-pays
  • Prepare patients for examination and record medical history
  • Perform vital signs and preliminary patient assessments
  • Conduct point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
  • Assist providers with patient care and procedures
  • Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and medical records
  • Answer patient questions and coordinate referrals
  • Perform opening/closing duties and maintain equipment quality checks
  • Support a safe, organized, and patient-centered clinical environment
  • All other duties as assigned.
