About The Position

This is a full-time Medical Assistant position within an OBGYN clinic. The role involves preparing patients for examinations and treatments, assisting providers during procedures, carrying out provider orders, conducting and following up on lab tests, and maintaining exam rooms. The position requires excellent customer service, communication, and computer skills, as well as attention to detail, compassion, and empathy. The Medical Assistant may also be required to float to other clinics if necessary to meet patient care needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required from an accredited institution.
Excellent customer service, communication, and computer skills.
Excellent attendance and attention to detail.
Compassion and empathy.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (available through Hillsdale Hospital).

Nice To Haves

Current Michigan Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA) or equivalent experience or training.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for examinations and treatments by completing medical history and other required forms, collecting and recording patient vital signs, and performing point of care testing (POCT).
Set up rooms with necessary equipment and supplies as appropriate for procedures, explain processes and tests to patients, and provide relevant materials to patients.
Assist provider during procedures and chaperone as needed.
Carry out provider orders at time of provider visit or in follow up. This may include injections, breathing treatment, EKG, dressing changes, weight check, and blood pressure monitoring.
Conduct and follow up on lab tests including blood draws and urine samples.
Ensure all specimens are properly and accurately labeled, review test results, complete related paperwork and assure results are available to providers and documented in patient records.
Clean and sterilize lab test equipment and instruments.
Keep exam rooms clean and fully stocked with supplies.
Float to other clinics if it becomes necessary to meet patient care needs.
Abide by all regulations, policies, work practices and instructions.
