The Medical Assistant will adhere to the Medical Assistant scope of practice, follow all policies and procedures, and maintain training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care. This role involves performing rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings. The Medical Assistant will also assist providers with procedures, perform lab-related duties including venipuncture and specimen collection, and conduct Point of Care testing. Responsibilities include administering medications and vaccines safely, completing CLIA-approved waived laboratory tests, and performing other duties such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, and patient messaging. The Medical Assistant will be cross-trained for duties relevant to the clinic practice and must demonstrate effective communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation. Maintaining a clean work environment, ensuring equipment and supplies are in working order, and stocking areas are also key functions. The role requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles.
