About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic, specifically in Family Medicine in New Albany, Indiana. This is a First Shift/Full Time position. Key responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow. The role also involves managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the Medical Assistant may also perform EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for efficient patient care and provider support. Regular on-site presence is required to perform the essential job functions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
  • 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required
  • Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines)
  • OR Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required
  • Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
  • BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP
  • OR graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure
  • Experience with EMR System a plus
