About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Medical Assistant for its Lung Institute/Pulmonary Clinic in Nashville, Tennessee. This role supports the licensed healthcare team by managing clinic patient flow, gathering patient data, and assisting with patient education and communication. The clinic serves diverse patient populations including Lung Transplant, Thoracic Surgery, Interventional Pulm, Pulmonary Hypertension, and Cystic Fibrosis. The Medical Assistant will work collaboratively with nurses, other MAs, respiratory therapists, schedulers, doctors, and pharmacists. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, with flexible hours from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with no nights, holidays, or weekends required. Graduate of an approved discipline specific program

Less than 1 year of experience

Clinical Patient Documentation (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience or training working with clinical applications for patient documentation.

Responsibilities

Supports the licensed healthcare team in performing office examinations and procedures by organizing and managing clinic patient flow, gathering and documenting patient screening data, assisting with patient and family education and communication with the patient's health care team.
Ensures efficient clinic flow by rooming patients for providers.
Performs EKGs.
Administers vaccines.
Assists in the procedure room during thoracentesis procedures.
Performs other clinic-related tasks.
Directs and supports patient flow as well as unit operations by maintaining supplies, equipment and unit environmental standards.
Facilitates identification of resources to meet patient healthcare needs.
Performs/assists with procedures according to organizational/departmental standards.
Collects and documents patient screening data for the healthcare team.
Assists with patient and family education.
