About The Position

We are currently hiring for a full-time benefitted Medical Assistant. This position would be scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no evening or weekend shifts required. The primary work location will be Scripps Encinitas on Santa Fe Drive. It is required to also be available to float, as needed, to other Scripps Coastal OBGYN clinics, including Oceanside and the Jefferson and Mission Valley locations. Why join Scripps Health? Requirements

  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
  • BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience as an MA in an outpatient setting
  • OBGYN clinic experience

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures
  • Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
  • Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice
  • Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
  • Collecting patient data in person and by phone
  • Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
  • Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
  • Scheduling of appointments and procedures
  • Complete and accurate message taking
  • Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
  • Order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications
  • Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics
