About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for maintaining a highly professional environment, ensuring a collaborative relationship with patients and physicians. The MA will assist with the non-clinical tasks required to ensure smooth patient access and flow. The non-clinical responsibilities include pre-authorization processes and acting as a liaison between providers and patients. The MA will work collaboratively with staff to ensure all proper records are received and all appropriate testing is completed prior to appointment or surgery date. The MA will provide updates to staff and patients on timing and status for all above tasks that could impact the patient’s health and/or testing and treatment options. Ensures even patient flow and continuous communication within Hoag and referring physician offices. This includes but is not limited to the following tasks: Scheduling patients (including follow-up office visits, imaging, and lab work) Preparation of appropriate chart elements Checking vital signs Rooming patients Assisting with procedures May be required to start at a different location throughout the workweek or travel to multiple sites.

Requirements

  • Medical Assistant certification or equivalent experience (implied by title)
  • Ability to maintain a professional environment
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with patients and physicians
  • Proficiency in non-clinical patient access and flow tasks
  • Experience with pre-authorization processes
  • Skill in acting as a liaison between providers and patients
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff
