About The Position

The Medical Assistant supports providers and nursing leadership in delivering exceptional patient care in ambulatory settings. The role combines administrative and clinical tasks to help provide a seamless, compassionate patient experience and maintain the efficiency and quality of care. The position is with Providence Hospitals, part of Henry Ford Health, serving communities across Oakland County.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Meet one of the listed qualification pathways: graduate of a Medical Assistant program with a formal clinical externship of at least 160 hours; graduate of a Medical Assistant program without a clinical externship and have at least one year of clinical medical assisting experience within the past five years; hold a current professionally recognized Medical Assistant certification and have at least one year of clinical medical assisting experience; be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN); be a licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one year of clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years; or be military-trained medical personnel with at least one year of clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years.
Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by the end of orientation.

Nice To Haves

Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
Experience with EPIC (Electronic Medical Record).

Responsibilities

Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, ensuring a welcoming environment.
Obtain and record accurate medical histories from patients.
Measure and document vital signs as part of patient assessment.
Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring their comfort and readiness.
Assist providers during examinations and procedures to facilitate smooth, efficient care delivery.
