About The Position

Under general supervision, performs both front office and back office duties, including related support services. This role assists with the day-to-day operations of the clinic, ensuring efficient and timely completion of medical assistant tasks. Responsibilities include patient registration, medical history intake, vital signs measurement, administering injections, assisting with procedures, maintaining medical supplies, and providing exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant and/or a Medical Assistant Diploma and/or a Medical Assistant Certification
  • Knowledgeable of personal computers
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association
  • Ability to travel to other clinic sites as needed
  • Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects. Normal fine and gross motor control of fingers and hands.
  • Talking: Frequently conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, clearly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information; hear whispered voice at five (5) feet.
  • Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Visual: Visual acuity necessary for the proper evaluation of a patient and to prepare or inspect documents or other materials. Ability to accurately view computer monitors
  • Physical: Sitting 20-30% of time and standing, walking 70-80% of time. Lift up to 25 lbs; push and pull up to 45 lbs. Able to bend at the waist, twist and turn along axial plane.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EMR/EHR preferred
  • Experience in a primary health care setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the day-to-day operations of the front and back office, ensuring timely and efficient completion of medical assistant tasks.
  • Assists in the coordination of referrals and patient communication.
  • Administers injections, assists with non-invasive and direct patient care procedures (e.g., EKGs, vision and hearing screenings, waive testing).
  • Assists with medical examinations within the scope of practice.
  • Obtains patient medical history and vital signs.
  • Ensures completion and documentation of quality metrics in compliance with regulatory and accreditation agencies.
  • Participates in and prepares for internal/external audits.
  • Maintains inventory of medical supplies, immunization, and operating supplies.
  • Ensures equipment is calibrated, charged, and cleaned.
  • Maintains and stocks required medical supplies in exam rooms.
  • Registers patients, including updating information and data entry of demographics.
  • Verifies and activates appropriate patient insurance plans.
  • Ensures accurate posting of encounter data.
  • Completes end-of-day reconciliation reports and secures cash deposits.
  • Prepares for the next day's clinic by identifying appointment types and chart preparation.
  • Updates proof of income, pre-registers patients, and screens patients for program eligibility.
  • Provides exceptional customer service.
  • Greets customers with appropriate introduction and addresses concerns.
  • Assists with other departments as appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
