About The Position

Seeking an experienced Bilingual Medical Assistant to prepare patients for medical care, administer provider-directed tests and maintain the orderliness of the medical clinic. The ideal candidate will be (1) registered or certified as an MA, (2) have related experience with a good work history, and (3) have bilingual proficiency in both English and Spanish (Highly Preferred).

  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • H.R experience
  • Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Proof of high school or GED.
  • Current MI driver’s license.
  • Current CPR/Basic First Aid.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual proficiency in both English and Spanish (Highly Preferred)
  • Athena experienced preferred
  • Certificate and Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants preferred or other certifying bodies.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, verify information, and prepare for examinations
  • Obtain and document vital signs, medical history and reason for visit
  • Prepare, clean, and restock exam rooms to ensure readiness
  • Assist providers with exams, procedures and treatments
  • Prepare exam rooms in advance for scheduled procedures, ensuring all necessary supplies, equipment, and instruments are set up and ready for provider use
  • Perform point-of-care testing and collect specimens as directed
  • Perform and document quality control checks for laboratory tests, ensuring accuracy, proper equipment functions, and compliance with testing standards
  • Administer vaccines and medications per provider orders
  • Enter vaccine data into MCIR accurately and in a timely manner, and navigate MCIR to obtain complete vaccine histories for patient care
  • Review vaccine history & identify vaccines needed
  • Perform venipuncture for laboratory testing, including proper specimen collections, labeling and handling
  • Provide patient education and instructions as directed by the provider
  • Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical provider(s).
  • Responsible for all paperwork related to the patients visit; including prepping forms for physician signature
  • Handle phone calls, messages, and follow-up tasks related to patient care
  • Assist with processing referrals, including gathering required documentation, submitting requests, and coordinating follow-up communication with patients and external offices
  • Manage patient flow to support efficient clinic operations
  • Participates in daily morning huddles to review schedules, coordinate workflow and support effective team communication
  • Monitor and ensure daily departmental opening and closing procedures are followed
  • Monitor inventory of medication and supplies stored on-site
  • Works to fullest extent of medical assistance licensure
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
