Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent
  • Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants
  • Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants
  • Bilingual in Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Provide top-notch customer service both in-person and over the phone.
  • Assist physicians with delivering primary health care to patients.
  • Welcome patients with a warm smile and exuberant demeanor.
  • Check patients in and verify their insurance and personal information on their records.
  • Manage patient files, records, and other information while maintaining strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Help deliver primary health care and patient care management.
  • Ensure that exam and treatment rooms are stocked with the necessary instruments and supplies and everything is sterilized before patients arrive.
  • Gently obtain patient vitals and determine the nature of their visit to prepare them to see the physician.
  • Assist physicians by preparing patients for minor surgeries and physicals, as well as by giving injections and applying splints and dressings.
  • Handle a variety of office duties including scheduling appointments, answering phones, screening calls, relaying messages by phone or mail, and answering patient questions about general policies and procedures.
  • Keep work area and lobby neat and orderly.
