About The Position

QuickVisit Urgent Care is seeking a PRN Medical Assistant (MA) with weekend availability to join their team in Osceola, Iowa. The role involves providing basic clinical care, performing initial patient evaluations, and assisting with urgent care procedures. The Medical Assistant will prepare patients for advanced registered nurse practitioners by taking histories, recording vital signs, and documenting information. Duties include preparing exam rooms, administering injections, drawing blood, running labs, performing EKGs, and ordering supplies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited program.
  • MA - Certificate preferred.
  • BLS required.
  • Adult and Child Mandatory Reporter Training.
  • Ability to accurately read and write medical terminology.
  • Ability to work all shifts including, day, evening, and weekend hours as needed.
  • Ability to escort or transport patients by wheelchair or stretcher when appropriate.
  • Basic computer skills including familiarity with electronic medical records.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and medical staff.

  • 1 year experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performing initial clinical evaluations and urgent care procedures.
  • Preparing patients for continued medical evaluation by taking a brief history, establishing vital signs, and recording appropriate documentation.
  • Preparing exam room for the next patient.
  • Taking vital signs.
  • Administering injections.
  • Drawing blood.
  • Running labs.
  • Performing EKGs.
  • Ordering supplies.
  • Greeting patients politely and promptly.
  • Triage patients, including recording vital signs and medical history into the EMR.
  • Preparing new and existing patient charts with appropriate forms.
  • Retrieving required signatures on forms.
  • Collecting, verifying, and copying patient insurance information.
  • Maintaining medical records according to policy.
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly office and waiting area.
  • Ordering supplies within budgetary guidelines.
  • Following protocols that provide medical authority when indicated.
  • Performing complete physical exams and assessments of patients.
  • Selecting, ordering, and performing tests and procedures.
  • Defining and documenting differential diagnoses.
  • Writing orders on physician order sheets for tests, procedures, and therapies.
  • Performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as necessary in collaboration with supervising physicians.
  • Interpreting data and diagnostic results.
  • Notating findings and treatment courses in patient charts.
  • Completing all lab tests as ordered by the provider.
  • Assisting with patient registration and clinic patient callbacks.
  • Maintaining regular and sustained attendance.
