About The Position

Requirements

  • Must have adequate transportation to be able to commute to any of the Family Health Center sites.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge electronic health systems.
  • Basic typing skills and the ability to use computer software.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a team.
  • Graduate from an approved school for Medical Assisting.
  • Basic Life Support and CPR Certified required. (Can complete after hire.)
  • Flu and COVID-19 vaccines are minimum work requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 2 years of medical assisting experience desired.
  • Experience with community/health/public health preferred.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assures quality of care by adhering to evidence based care guidelines; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following standards of care set by state and other governing agency regulations.
  • Manage patient flow in accordance to FHC Standard Work/Job Instruction Sheet such as: Greet patients with identified scripting, determine needs, and direct patients to the examining room. Follow rooming procedure including asking about recent ER/Hospital visits, taking vital signs, reviewing medication list, completing screening tests and health maintenance orders as identified in the chart preparation. Record in the EMR.
  • Obtain lab specimens, performs tests, and documents results.
  • Prepare specimens for labeling and transportation, complete necessary forms as indicated.
  • Participate in daily clinical huddles.
  • Commit To Sit- review after visit summary with patient.
  • Manage telephone inquiries appropriately and carry out patient call backs as assigned.
  • Assist nurses and providers with incoming patient healthcare information.
  • Operate aspects of vaccine management, specifically administration, storage and handling.
  • Maintains supplies and inventory by checking stock daily: anticipating needed supplies; using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • FHC Employee Engagement: participates in organizational events within the community and Family Health Center.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops: monthly staff meetings, clinical committees.
  • Adhere to the laws regarding safeguarding medical information according to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
