Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent
  • Clinical experience
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy, obtain patient vitals, and give injections
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to lift at least 35lbs and bear the weight of an average adult effectively
  • Current and valid driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation and valid automobile insurance coverage

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate in Medical Assisting and/or Phlebotomy preferred
  • Experience with geriatric patients preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine diagnostic/clinical procedures and tests under the direction of a provider in the field.
  • Provide data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
  • Ensure the safety of the patient and self by providing a clean, safe working environment.
  • Check electronic charts for proper documentation necessary for daily visits.
  • Determine proper follow-up assessments according to patient need and best practice guidelines.
  • Secure patient signatures on necessary documents and properly document in EMR.
  • Perform routine inventory of supplies and present list of needed supplies/equipment to supervisor.
  • Perform and document blood pressure, respirations, temperature, blood glucose levels, pulse oximetry findings, and any other baseline vitals when necessary.
  • Administer injections, including influenza and pneumonia vaccinations, TB tests, and B12 injections.
  • Prepare laboratory requisitions and specimens for shipment or pick up.
  • Clearly communicate directions to patient in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and providers’ instructions to patients, as well as the paperwork at the initial visit.
  • When in the office, provide back-up assistance for other clerical positions and perform routine office support duties including answering phones, attaching documents, creating new patient packets, and other duties as assigned to assist the needs of the office.
