About The Position

Beloit Health System is growing its team and seeking a motivated Medical Assistant to join the Beloit Clinic team in Beloit, WI. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care while working alongside experienced providers in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. The Medical Assistant will be assigned to the Nursing Administration Department at Beloit Clinic, supporting a variety of specialties and physicians across multiple clinic locations including Beloit, Westside, NorthPointe, Clinton, and South Beloit. This role is ideal for a Medical Assistant looking to expand their knowledge in various specialties.

Requirements

  • Certified or Registered as Medical Assistant at time of employment (CMA, CCMA, or RMA)
  • Must be CPR certified within 3 months of hire
  • Strong critical thinking abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and counseling skills

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of clinical experience desirable
  • Willingness to learn phlebotomy and point of care labs
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records
  • Prior experience in clinic specialty preferred, but willing to train

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and room patients, obtaining medical histories and vital signs.
  • Monitor patient flow and respond to patient phone messages.
  • Administer medications and assist with diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and stock exam rooms.
  • Provide support during medical emergencies.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments, obtaining prior authorizations and pre-certifications.
  • Process medication refill requests according to established protocols.
  • Complete patient-related forms such as FMLA and disability paperwork.
  • Order clinical supplies and maintain clean and organized exam rooms.
  • Support the overall efficiency of daily clinic operations.
  • Prepare and review patient charts and documentation prior to appointments.
  • Escort patients to examination rooms, obtain and document vital signs, and update electronic medical records.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Verify that all required consents are completed and documented.
  • Participate in procedural "time outs" with the Physician or Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) as appropriate.
  • Assist Providers during examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date patient records within the electronic medical record system.
  • Answer and manage incoming telephone calls, routing concerns appropriately and assisting with patient triage under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional.
  • Support patient and family education by reinforcing instructions and information provided by the Physician or LIP.
  • Schedule patient appointments in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner.
  • Promote patient safety by following established procedures for medication handling, transportation, and administration, while minimizing risks associated with falls, injuries, and disease exposure.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to the basic physical, emotional, and social needs of patients and their families.
  • Adhere to all infection prevention and control protocols.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in department-specific software applications and electronic health record systems.
  • Perform additional clinic and department responsibilities in accordance with established competencies and standards of care.
  • Participate in quality improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure clinical and office supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Complete assigned duties accurately and within established timeframes to support efficient clinic operations.
