About The Position

Starling Oncology is seeking a Medical Assistant to join their outpatient oncology team. This role is crucial in transforming the patient experience by providing both administrative and clinical support within a compassionate care team. The Medical Assistant will ensure the smooth operation of the clinic, deliver high-quality patient care, enhance clinic efficiency, and contribute to an outstanding patient experience. Opportunities for cross-training in patient registration and medical records support are available.

Requirements

• Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
• Compassionate and patient-focused attitude.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Proficiency in completing blood draws and processing labs.
• High school graduate or GED.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant Diploma program from an accredited educational institute.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English required.

Nice To Haves

• Medical Assistant Certificate preferred, not required.
• 2 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant or related role in an outpatient clinic/medical office setting is preferred.
• BLS and CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in company initiatives and team activities.
• Responsible for documentation in electronic medical record (EMR) system(s).
• Requesting external medical records and preparing patient charts prior to patient appointments.
• Performing and documenting patient vital signs.
• Completing review of systems and intake documentation.
• Preparing patients for physician care.
• Administering basic first aid.
• Performing venipunctures and non-intravenous injections.
• Performing basic laboratory procedures.
• Observing and reporting patients’ signs or symptoms.
• Able to serve as a chaperone in patient examinations as needed.
• Assisting with patient examinations, procedures, or treatments.
• Administering certain medications as directed by the physician.
• Other duties as assigned.
