About The Position
Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Medical Assistant to join their Structural Heart Team. Located in Nashville, Tennessee, VUMC is a leading institution in patient care, education, and research. This role supports the licensed healthcare team by managing clinic patient flow, gathering patient data, assisting with patient education, and communicating with the healthcare team. The Medical Assistant will also contribute to local and organizational teams by establishing mentoring relationships and participating in shared governance. Continuous learning and skill advancement are encouraged. VUMC is a leader in treating heart valve disease with the newest transcatheter techniques and is actively involved in research to develop future innovations in the field.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
- Relevant Work Experience
- Less than 1 year of experience
- Cardiac experience preferred

Responsibilities
- Directs and supports patient flow as well as unit operations by maintaining supplies, equipment and unit environmental standards.
- Facilitates identification of resources to meet patient healthcare needs.
- Performs/assists with procedures according to organizational/departmental standards.
- Collects and documents patient screening data for the healthcare team.
- Assists with patient and family education.
- Positively influences local and organizational teams by establishing mentoring relationships and participating in shared governance activities.
- Furthers growth by engaging in learning activities to advance skills.
