A Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting the physician in providing care to their patients. This role involves a variety of duties including taking vitals, obtaining and updating patient information, assisting patients as needed, and administering injections and vaccinations. The Medical Assistant will also be responsible for preparing treatment rooms, ensuring they are neat and clean, and cleaning and sterilizing instruments. Supply management, including inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipts, is also a key part of the role. Other responsibilities include rooming patients, verifying their information and medical history, preparing them for examinations by performing preliminary physical tests, and assisting physicians during examinations and treatments. Documentation of visits and services in EMR software, scheduling procedures, counseling patients on physician's orders and treatment plans, authorizing drug refills, and coordinating with medical facilities for tests or admissions are also required. The position also involves providing pre-operative and post-operative discharge care.
