About The Position

The Medical Assistant will function within the State of Ohio scope of practice to administer direct care to patients, functioning under the direction of the provider or registered nurse and practice manager, following all policies and procedures including Mount Carmel Health System, Mount Carmel Medical Group and department specific policies and procedures. The Medical Assistant will welcome and room patients, taking height, weight, and vitals. They will review medical history, chief complaints, and gather other information. They will also assist with in-office procedures, answer in-basket messages, and handle patient follow-up calls and messages using EPIC.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with 1-2 years of medical experience OR Graduate Bachelor's or Associate's in science/health degree.
  • Graduate/Completion of a medical assistant program preferred.
  • Medical Assistant Certification or Registration preferred.
  • Graduate of EMT, EMT-P, or Military Medical Corpsman training preferred.
  • Nationally recognized Medical Assistant Certification or Registration, preferred (MCMG Only).
  • One to two years of medical assisting experience preferred.
  • In lieu of required education, two to three years of previous medical office experience is required.
  • Current BLS/CPR, and must maintain current certification.
