About The Position

The Medical Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Clinical Services Manager, assisting with the examination and treatment of patients in a radiation oncology clinic. Duties include conducting patient interviews; measuring and recording vital signs and patient information in the electronic medical record; drawing and collecting blood samples; preparing specimens for laboratory analysis; and preparing treatment rooms. The Medical Assistant may also register and schedule patients for appointments and procedures using registration and scheduling systems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of a medical assistant training program.

• One year of medical assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Collect and record patients’ medical histories and acquire vital signs.
• Advise patients regarding treatment, medication, and specific physician instructions.
• Collect laboratory samples and complete documentation required for laboratory submission.
• Manage patient appointment schedules while balancing medical needs with patients’ timetables.
• Greet patients and customers professionally and courteously upon arrival at the clinic.
• Register and check out patients, collect payments, issue receipts, and verify insurance coverage.
• Assist with patient examinations and treatment, including preparing treatment rooms.
• Record patient information in the electronic medical record.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
