About The Position

First Choice Health Centers is seeking a Part-Time Medical Assistant to join their Clinical and Operations team. This role involves providing direct patient care services, including patient engagement and care coordination across the communities of East Hartford, Manchester, and Vernon. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for independently performing a full range of patient care tasks in an outpatient setting and will function as a float, with their work location subject to frequent change based on staffing needs. This part-time position offers 20-24 hours per week.

Requirements

• Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant Program
• 5 + years of MA or CNA experience
• BLS Certification
• Experience with an electronic health record
• Knowledge of medical terminology

• Certified Medical Assistant is a plus

Responsibilities

• Act as a member of the care team, including preparing patients to be seen by collecting and recording clinical information as per process, responding to patient phone calls and documenting patient interactions.
• Manage patients according to approved protocols and consistent with appointment and scheduling guidelines.
• Document all patient interactions and other clinical activities accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
• Schedule tests, treatments and follow up visits on behalf of patients, assist patients with identifying suitable outside resources and other services where appropriate.
• Monitor task list (telephone encounters) in order to respond in a timely manner, follow up on overdue orders and monitor status of critical referrals.
• Adhere to all patient safety standards and infection control guidelines.
• Assist care team to assure smooth office operation and delivery of excellent service through teamwork.
