About The Position

The Medical Assistant will manage the patient flow throughout the clinic and assist providers in the management and treatment of their patients. Patients come from a variety of backgrounds and various age groups requiring individualized care including infants, children, adolescents, adults, or geriatrics. The focus of the Medical Assistant is on collaborative, supportive and delegated tasks as described in the Blaze Health Medical Assistant scope of practice. Delegable tasks and competencies are specific to the role of the Supervising Nurse and Supervising Provider and are described by the Minnesota Board of Nursing and the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. The Medical Assistant receives direction and collaborates with the Clinic Supervisor, Clinic Manager, and Providers to meet the defined goals of the customer, shift, department and organization. Communication with the health care team related to progress, concerns, questions or problems that arise are an essential element of the Medical Assistant role. Unit based skills list outlines specific expectations including technical procedures with competency assessment/validation. Skill and competency validations will occur upon hire and on a schedule determined by Blaze Health based on the Blaze Health Mandatory Education, Training, Education, License, Registration, and Certification policy.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent (i.e. GED) required.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program accredited by a recognized accrediting organization (i.e. Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools) with on the job experience and training OR Graduate of a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) program accredited by a national health services organization (i.e. American Medical Technologists) with on-the-job experience and training and passing the RMA certification exam.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Registered Medical Assistant certification required if RMA program attended.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks in an efficient manner.
  • Knowledge of a skill in using computer software applications.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Passed X-Ray Operator’s examination, or willing to take exam according to individual clinic needs.
