About The Position

This is a Medical Assistant position for a new office opening focused on LGBTQIA+ care, offering services such as PrEP-HIV testing and prevention, and Hormone Replacement Therapy. The role involves assisting providers in an ambulatory health care setting with patient visits, procedures, lab tests, referrals, and quality outcomes. Medical Assistants will also participate in Network quality initiatives.

Requirements

  • Ability to collaborate with others in a team setting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Positive attitude toward problem-solving.
  • Graduate/certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program OR a High School Diploma/GED + one year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice within the past three years.
  • Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the provider with facilitation of patient visit and procedures.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests.
  • Handle referrals and quality outcomes for the practice population.
  • Actively participate in Network quality initiatives regarding best practices.
  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient use, including cleaning and stocking supplies.
  • Room patients and manage an efficient flow of the provider’s caseload.
  • Obtain necessary vital signs, EKGs, and/or specimen collection.
  • Document care using the EPIC EMR system.
  • Perform Point of Care Testing based on patient’s chief complaint and available protocols.
  • Process referrals and medication refills.
  • Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Cross-train in front office duties.
  • Float to nearby practices as needed.
