About The Position

The Medical Assistant supports the P3CM Medical Management process by combining clinical experience with administrative and clerical functions. This role facilitates communication between patients, providers, and internal teams, ensures accurate documentation and case tracking, and supports utilization management and case management activities. The position requires medical assistant certification with strong organizational, communication, and technical skills to ensure high-quality, cost-effective care and efficient departmental operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, data entry (45+ WPM), and Microsoft Office.
  • Analytical thinking and ethical decision-making.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Time management, multitasking, and prioritization.
  • Team collaboration and adaptability.
  • Proficiency in technology and electronic health systems.
  • Cultural sensitivity and patient advocacy.
  • Sedentary Work: Primarily involves sitting for extended periods, often at a desk or computer.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Mobility: Occasional walking or traversing throughout the office to meet with leaders and other employees.
  • Visual Acuity: Ability to read and analyze data on a computer screen (or to read and analyze data with reasonable accommodation) and in printed materials.
  • Lifting & Carrying: Minimal physical lifting required, but may involve handling documents, and lifting light office supplies
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy needed for managing products, reports and contracts.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to strategically plan the needs of the department.
  • Multitasking: Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, often under tight deadlines.
  • Decision-Making: Make informed decisions regarding the best plan for paid media strategies.
  • Stress Management: Handle stressful situations calmly and effectively, especially when dealing with client and employee concerns.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with employees, managers, clients and external vendors.

  • Written Communication: Prepare clear and concise documentation, including emails and notes.
  • Verbal Communication: Lead planning sessions and team meetings. Provide clear instructions and support for clients, employees and managers.
  • Presentation Skills: Present information effectively in training sessions with employees and other departments.

  • Familiarity with ERISA and URAC standards preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide utilization review services using evidence-based guidelines.
  • Support disease and case management processes.
  • Maintain compliance with state scope of practice.
  • Perform duties in an ethical manner
  • Answer and route phone calls; relay messages to appropriate staff.
  • Enter and update case referrals in the medical management software.
  • Prepare and send introductory packets, closure letters, and satisfaction surveys.
  • Maintain secure filing systems for closed cases.
  • Support Utilization Management by mailing letters, copying/faxing records, and contacting providers.
  • Build, maintain and promote relationships with team members, peers across disciplines, and all other company team members ensuring effective coordination of communications and services affecting clients.
  • Attend webinars and training to stay up to date on best practices related to the company and department.
  • Complete projects and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
