About The Position
The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible to the Clinic Management team. This role involves preparing patients for examinations by taking vital signs, reviewing charts, recording patient symptoms and medical history, and assisting medical providers with examinations and procedures. The MA will also be responsible for transcribing charts for providers, requiring proficiency in medical terminology and typing skills.
Requirements
- Keep current BLS-CPR card.
- Efficient in medical terminology
- Type 40 wpm
Responsibilities
- Call patients into rooms for examinations.
- Take weights, blood pressures, and temperatures including pulse, and respiration when needed.
- Review the patient’s chart.
- Record and obtain patient’s symptoms, make observations, listen, answer questions, and reassure.
- Obtain past medical history and family history as appropriate.
- Obtain or review medications the patient is currently taking and medication the patient is allergic to.
- Record all of the above information in the patient's chart and sign.
- Assist medical providers with examinations as necessary.
- Help providers with procedures as needed.
- Transcribe charts for providers.
