About The Position

Pediatric Associates is seeking a stellar Medical Assistant with a passion for pediatric care to join their growing team. The Medical Assistant will handle both clinical and administrative functions, contributing to the organization's mission as a leading nationwide Pediatric Primary Care Medical Home.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Medical foreign doctors must have a Bachelor of Science degree in General Medicine from a regionally accredited university or equivalent.
MA Diploma / Certification required OR a minimum of 3 years MA experience will commensurate Diploma / Certification requirement.
Active BLS certification required.
Current, valid driver’s license required.
Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience with MA Diploma/Certification in a healthcare setting preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills to support and reassure pediatric patients and their families.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the community.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology, and immunization.
Knowledge of medical safety practices and standards.
Ability to plan, prioritize and organize.
Ability to communicate clearly both written and verbally.
Critical thinking to include emergency response.
Proficiency in electronic health recordkeeping systems.

Nice To Haves

Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience with MA Diploma/Certification in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

Maintain a high quality patient experience, welcome patients, and ensure a safe patient environment.
Ensure office and exam room cleanliness and have appropriate supplies and equipment for patient care in adherence to infection control policy and procedures.
Perform and document patient intake vitals (height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate) and notify the clinician of any abnormal findings.
Interview patients based on age appropriateness and/or specialty needs, accurately documenting chief complaint, current medications, allergies, vaccine history, medical/surgical/family/social histories, and barriers to care.
Obtain necessary medical records, consultation notes, discharge records, and diagnostic/laboratory results for clinician review.
Prepare patients for clinician examination, ensure clinician orders are performed and accurately documented.
Perform and assist clinicians with age-appropriate vision/hearing screenings, electrocardiograms, suture removal, ear lavages, urine cauterization, ear-piercing, wound care, specialty procedures, and emergency response with proper clinician supervision.
Perform and document vaccine and medication reconciliation with the patient and state registry.
Provide written vaccine information statements and educate patients/parents prior to vaccine and medication administration.
Adhere to vaccine cold chain management, including proper handling, storage, preparation, administration, and reporting of vaccine excursions.
Perform proper patient identifiers, buddy process validation, and administer vaccines and medications (intramuscular, intradermal, subcutaneous injections) with post-observation.
Complete patient follow-up tasks, including answering phones, handling correspondence, processing prescription refill requests, obtaining medication preauthorization, assisting with patient referrals, and completing patient forms (DME, therapy, school clearance, sports, medication).
Arrange home care, hospital care, procedures, and follow-up appointments.
Perform phlebotomy, lab sample collection, and proper processing with documentation and reporting to the clinician.
Meet best practice standards, quality, and key performance indicators set forth by the organization.
