About The Position

We are a patient-centered primary care practice committed to providing compassionate, high-quality healthcare to individuals and families. We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team and help us deliver exceptional patient care. The Medical Assistant will support our providers by performing both clinical and administrative duties in a fast-paced primary care setting. The ideal candidate is organized, friendly, and dedicated to creating a positive experience for every patient.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA, RMA, or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a primary care or family medicine practice preferred.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification preferred.
  • Experience with EMR systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and infection control practices.
  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting.
  • Appropriate certificate indicating passing grade for specific specialty if working in specialty department; e.g., pediatric medical assistant exam.
  • Minimum five (5) years of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant.
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection current experience.
  • Current documentation of medical assistant certification required.
  • Must possess a current CPR certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).
  • Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.
  • Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical practice.
  • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
  • Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
  • Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
  • Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
  • Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history, and medication reconciliation.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during procedures.
  • Administer injections, vaccines, and perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing as appropriate.
  • Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals.
  • Process prescription refill requests and communicate with pharmacies.
  • Answer patient phone calls and portal messages professionally.
  • Maintain exam rooms, stock supplies, and ensure infection control standards are followed.
  • Assist with prior authorizations and other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Provide outstanding customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality.
