About The Position

The Medical Assistant assists physicians as they assess, examine and treat patients. Responsibilities include patient flow management and various diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections and vitals. Acts as liaison to physicians to ensure patient satisfaction. Maintains and orders supplies for their area as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Specialized Diploma
  • For NJ Only: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program which includes, at a minimum, 330 hours of instruction and encompasses training in the administration of intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize practices, tools, and techniques for communicating with a customer
  • Knowledge of the common types of equipment or devices used in the healthcare industry, and the ability to use these in patient care
  • Knowledge of the relevance of health information and appropriate documentation methods, ability to record medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, tests, and medical results in written or electronic form
  • Knowledge of how to read and interpret patient charts regarding medication sheets, diets, history and physicals, and tests, ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to patient care
  • Knowledge of and ability to provide clinical skills necessary for patient care, e.g. history taking, therapeutic planning and monitoring, etc., to achieve optimized outcomes in medication therapy and clinical treatment
  • Knowledge of the factors contributing to quality patient care, and the ability to influence these factors in a positive way

Responsibilities
