About The Position

Position Summary As a Medical Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting our providers, radiologic technologists, and patients. This is a fast-paced, patient-facing position where you’ll help ensure an efficient and positive care experience—from check-in through discharge. We’re looking for someone who is organized, service-oriented, and thrives in a collaborative team environment. This role requires fluency in both English and Burmese to effectively support our patient population.

Requirements

  • Fluency in Burmese and English (spoken and written) is required
  • Medical Assistant certification is REQUIRED at time of hire
  • Accepted certifications include: CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA), CMA – Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA or CHP), RMA – Registered Medical Assistant (AMT, AAH, or ARMA), NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT), NRCMA – Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NAHP)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (American Red Cross or American Heart Association) – required at hire
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program
  • 1+ year of Medical Assistant experience within the last 3 years
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology
  • Excellent communication and patient service skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations, including Burmese-speaking patients

Responsibilities

  • Register patients and verify insurance and eligibility
  • Room patients and prepare them for examination
  • Record medical history and vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, etc.)
  • Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG)
  • Assist providers during patient visits and communicate patient needs
  • Process co-pays and schedule follow-up appointments
  • Maintain clean, stocked, and organized exam rooms and front desk areas
  • Manage medical records, documentation, and patient communications
  • Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries
  • Support daily clinic operations including opening/closing duties
  • Provide language support for Burmese-speaking patients, including communication and care coordination
