Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a clinical or medical setting required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (or obtained at time of hire).
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy, EKG administration, medical terminology, and basic anatomy/physiology with minimal medical support.
  • Exceptional communication skills, a high level of empathy, and strong basic math/computational skills.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word) and familiarity with electronic medical charting systems.

Nice To Haves

  • three (3) years of experience within a physician office setting is highly preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) designation is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, room them efficiently, and accurately measure and document vital signs
  • Perform routine clinical treatments, clean dressing changes, EKGs, and specimen collections, including venous or capillary phlebotomy, following strict safety protocols
  • Prepare and stock exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments, medical supplies, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Clean and sterilize medical instruments in strict accordance with infection control standards and manufacturer guidelines
  • Coordinate seamlessly with internal departments (like laboratory and radiology) and providers to optimize daily schedules and minimize patient wait times.
  • Manage the patient check-in and check-out process, accurately route phone calls, and handle registration, billing inquiries, and insurance referrals.
  • Maintain complete proficiency with clinical information systems and Electronic Medical Records (EMR), gathering all past diagnostic tests and patient data prior to the provider's visit.
  • Listen to, document, and assist with patient complaints or concerns, upholding the Patient’s Bill of Rights at all times.
