Medical Assistant - ILHL Cardio
About The Position
The Medical Assistant maintains department patient care supplies, ensures timely flow of patients, and assists physicians and nurses to provide optimal care to patients and families. Responsibilities include performing a variety of routine direct patient care duties to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients. The role involves maintaining the patient care environment and supplies to ensure patient privacy and safety, participating as a team member, and identifying, evaluating, and resolving potential safety problems within the designated area. The Medical Assistant must have knowledge of infection control, such as adequate hand washing, and may act as a preceptor to support the development of other staff and healthcare students. Ensuring documentation of care is complete and accurate is also a key responsibility.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
- H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of routine direct patient care duties to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.
- Maintains patient care environment and supplies to ensure patient privacy and safety.
- Participates as a team member of division/department.
- Identifies, evaluates and resolves potential safety problems within the designated area.
- Has knowledge of infection control, i.e. adequate hand washing.
- Acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff and healthcare students.
- Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate.
- Intake process: Height, Weight, BP, Resp. Rate, Pulse, Pain, Medication Review
- Order Supplies
- Maintain flow of patient / provider schedule
- Provide support to nursing staff.
- Maintain par level of supplies in exam rooms.
- Maintain Expiration Log of supplies and medications.
- Perform EKG's
- Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output
- Monitors and records vital signs
- Maintain a clean and safe work place
- Maintain good working relationships with fellow workers, nursing and medical staff, and the general public
