About The Position
This role collaborates with providers and the multidisciplinary team to deliver appropriate client care. The Medical Assistant will assist with the coordination of the psychiatrist/nurse practitioner’s daily activities.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to perform basic medical assistant needs.
Nice To Haves
- Psychiatric/Behavioral Health experience preferred.
- Healthcare technology experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform vitals.
- Perform screenings per Prescriber(s) request.
- Inform provider when person(s) served are ready and escort them to designated area(s).
- Actively working refill request from pharmacy(s).
- Perform blood/urine collection(s) as requested by Prescriber(s).
- Request lab results and follow up with reported results.
- Call in refill medications as needed and directed by Prescriber(s).
- Answer phone calls/voicemail(s) regarding medications and notify Prescriber(s) of any adverse reactions.
- Actively respond to emails regarding medications for person(s) served.
- Handle request for records/discharge summaries as requested by Prescriber(s).
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of diagnostic criteria sets for substance use and/or mental disorders.
- Orally communicate information effectively and accurately.
- Assure program operates within the constraints of the agency’s certification (CARF, DMH) standards and strategic plan related to clinical care.
- Abide by program and agency policies and procedures.
- Other job duties and special projects as assigned.
