About The Position

Rothman Orthopaedics is seeking a per diem Medical Assistant for our Malvern, PA office. This role provides essential support to physicians and physician's assistants by managing both administrative and clinical tasks. The Medical Assistant plays a key role in enhancing patient satisfaction and ensuring the smooth operation of patient care pathways, from initial greeting to coordinating various diagnostic and treatment services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED minimum education requirement.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a medical office preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology.
  • Computer skills including MS Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Active National Medical Assistant Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms.
  • Direct patients to various departments including orthotics, rehab, surgery scheduling, X-ray, and front desk.
  • Maintain order, cleanliness, and inventory in exam rooms, preparing them for patient use.
  • Clean and autoclave instruments.
  • Provide and scan necessary paperwork into patient charts for physician review.
  • Obtain and record vital signs as requested by the physician.
  • Prepare injections for the physician according to protocols.
  • Retrieve and display X-rays, MRIs, CTs, and other patient studies and their associated reports.
  • Assist patients with clothing as needed.
  • Dispose of biohazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulations, and replace sharps containers.
  • Answer telephones in patient treatment areas.
  • Request, obtain, and upload reports from various facilities for physician review.
  • Empty and restock laundry.
  • Scan appointment tracking to manage patient flow and direct physicians.
  • Review physician schedules for chart preparation, ensuring all necessary reports and studies are present.
  • Complete pre-certifications for MRIs, injections, and other physician orders.
  • Send Visco Injection authorization requests to supplement pre-certification representatives.
  • Cover other office areas as directed by management.
  • Manage provider jellybeans and voicemail as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of fax logs.
  • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
  • Read and respond to emails in a timely manner.
  • Embody the organization's desired culture and philosophies.
  • Identify and manage weekly schedules, including changes, as published by the manager.
  • Handle and label specimens (urine, blood, incision drainage, aspirated fluids, etc.).
  • Follow provider instructions to ensure specimens are sent to the appropriate lab for analysis.
