About The Position

The Medical Assistant is an essential member of the outpatient care team at the St. Vincent de Paul Medical Clinic, supporting the delivery of patient-centered care within a Patient-Centered Medical Home model. Under the supervision of licensed providers, the Medical Assistant performs clinical and administrative support tasks, including centralized scheduling and eligibility coordination, front desk coverage, and back-office clinical duties. All levels are cross-trained to allow for a rotational model of roles in the clinic. As experience and competency increase, responsibilities may expand to include advanced clinical tasks, workflow coordination, and training support for other Medical Assistants, while maintaining a strong commitment to quality, safety, and the SVdP mission. This position may require travel between clinic locations to support operational and patient care needs. Medical Assistants at SVdP operate in a rotational model integrating back-office clinical duties with centralized scheduling, eligibility coordination, and front desk coverage. All levels are cross-trained, with increasing independence and leadership expectations at each level.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Graduation from an approved medical assistant training program
  • CPR/BLS certification
  • Basic computer proficiency to include Windows, MS Office, and the internet
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish), both written and verbal, is required per operational need.
  • 1+ years in medical assistant experience
  • Proficiency in advanced clinical procedures (ex. Phlebotomy, EKG, vaccine administration, specimen handling, Spirometer, etc.)
  • 3+ yrs of medical assistant experience
  • Strong understanding of clinical procedures and patient care practices (Training checklist )
  • 4+ years of Medical Assistance experience
  • Advanced skills certifications and Management experience

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, obtain vitals, perform POC testing, document in EHR, assist providers, prepare exam rooms.
  • Schedule appointments using routing protocols, confirm visits, manage reminders, support schedule optimization.
  • Collect and review required documentation, enter data accurately, track assistance applications, identify SDOH barriers.
  • Greet and check in/out patients, verify demographics, provide clinic information, support financial assistance workflows.
