About The Position

Assists the physician and office staff with performance of patient care activities consistent with the established standards of nursing practice. The incumbent in this position shall carry out his or her responsibilities and integrate into his or her work ethic the Mercy Philosophy of caring for the sick and suffering, respect for human life and the dignity of each person, applying Christian values to all crucial human issues in the area over which he or she has responsibility. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • New hire must attend MA Clinic Academy training.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • One year of experience in an outpatient or ambulatory care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and updating medical and medication histories
  • Preparing patients for exams and assisting with provider evaluations and procedures
  • Performing basic diagnostic testing as appropriate and documenting care accurately
  • Reinforcing provider‑directed patient education
  • Maintaining clean, well‑stocked exam rooms and adhering to safety and infection‑prevention standards
  • Assisting with scheduling tests, referrals, follow‑ups, and supporting front‑office operations
  • Participating in quality initiatives, staff meetings, and other MA‑related duties
