About The Position

The individual supports practice operations, working collaboratively with physicians and other reporting to the Practice Manger while upholding the mission, vision and the values of the organization.

Requirements

Ability to work directly with Nephrologists to ensure patient needs are met
Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures are essential
Has knowledge of medical billing, including claims and payment processing and medical coding
Understands Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and is proactive in utilizing available to EMR resources
Exceptional planning and organizational skills
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
Professional appearance and manner
Computer literacy, specifically MS Office for Windows, working knowledge of Greenway Primesuite EMR
A minimum of 3 years medical office experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Current BLS Certification
Basic computer skills required

Nice To Haves

CMA (AAMA) Certification preferred

Responsibilities

Consistently completes entire patient process, including scheduling, registration and follow-up
Prepares patients for examination and explains procedures when applicable
Supports physicians by arranging hospital admissions and laboratory services
Reconciles charges and cash posting on a daily basis and ensures credit card payments are processed according to policy
Acts as a resource to Practice Manager, LPN and Billing Office
Instructs patient about medications and special diets
Authorizes prescription refills as directed by physicians
Reviews patient demographics for accuracy, while verifying patient insurance benefits and initiating and obtaining necessary information from the insurance carrier in an efficient manner
Reviews/creates office billing tickets to ensure necessary patient demographic and codes are documented and insurance is valid
Assisting patients in obtaining and understanding medical benefits.
Updating any internal databases, which electronically store and organize patients’ records, billing details and registration forms.
