About The Position

Midwest Immunology & Minnesota Center for Multiple Sclerosis, a Vivo Infusion Company is seeking a motivated Medical Assistant to join their growing team. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with the individual floating between the Plymouth and Woodbury clinics. The Medical Assistant will support operations by working with patients, providers, nurses, and patients, conducting administrative and patient care activities to ensure the facility runs smoothly. The role is responsible for initial patient greeting and general medical support, but will not support the Infusion Suite. Mileage will be reimbursed for travel between clinics.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent, required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification, required.
  • CPR/BLS, required prior to start date.
  • 6 months clinical experience, required.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as needed.
  • Must possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate professionally and effectively with other staff members, patients and physicians.
  • Must possess computer skills for electronic recordkeeping.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior administrative experience.
  • Phlebotomy and lab processing skills, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of patient care activities rendering quality patients in accordance with standards of practice.
  • Room clinic patients in person or virtually and update patient chart with the required information.
  • Communicate pertinent patient data to providers and nurses to ensure quality and continuity of patient care.
  • Oversees and ensures efficient turnover of exam rooms.
  • Assist provider in the exam room as requested.
  • Collect, prepare, and submit ordered patient lab specimens as directed.
  • Administer injections and vaccines.
  • Obtain prior authorizations for prescribed treatments and document.
  • Triage patient phone calls and messages and document them appropriately.
  • Orders and manages supplies under the direction of manager.
  • Clean and stock the exam rooms, with the approved facility disinfectant.
  • Assist in obtaining records required for the patient’s chart.
  • Support front desk staff as needed.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, reporting patient issues as needed throughout the treatment day.
  • Follow company policies and CDC guidelines for infection control.
  • Immediately report any unsafe condition to the Clinic Manager.
  • Assist with proper handling and storage of hazardous materials.
  • Perform all duties in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines and high work volume.
  • Participate in emergency evacuation procedures in the event of fire or disaster.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all company and patient records.
  • Adhere to HIPPA.
  • Comply with all Company established policies and procedures at all times.
  • Participate in all required meetings including staff, CQI, and educational meetings.
  • Request assistance or advice from supervisor as needed.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
