About The Position

This role is for a Medical Assistant in an Urgent Care setting. The position involves a variety of patient care, clerical, and organizational responsibilities to ensure smooth clinic operations and high-quality patient service. The Medical Assistant will work collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other staff, while maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to all organizational policies and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill patient care responsibilities including checking schedules, organizing patient flow, assisting patients with mobility, collecting specimens, preparing patients for exams, collecting patient history, performing screenings, charting, and relaying instructions.
  • Complete clerical responsibilities such as managing patient records, obtaining reports and referral information, completing forms, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance and demographics, and filing information.
  • Meet environmental responsibilities including setting up and cleaning exam rooms and equipment, ordering and storing supplies, and restocking rooms.
  • Complete organizational responsibilities such as respecting patient rights, responding to emergency codes, and reporting patient or staff issues to a supervisor.
  • Fulfill clinical medical assisting responsibilities including checking vital signs, preparing for physical examinations, verifying prescriptions, biohazard waste disposal, performing laboratory procedures (including CLIA-waived testing and venipunctures), specimen handling, EKG testing, completing lab draws, and providing emergency first aid.
  • Adhere to the Medical Assistant scope of practice in the laboratory and practice based on NYS guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team with Physicians, APPs, Licensed Nurses, Receptionists, and all other staff.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times and ensure HIPAA compliance.
  • Comply with organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
