About The Position

Florida Urology is expanding its footprint throughout the Tampa Bay area and is looking to add to its Medical Assistant team. The brand new office is fast-paced and will not be a boring job. Due to a services agreement with Tampa General Hospital, there has been an increase in patients, making the office busier than ever. Competitive hourly rates and benefits are offered for full-time employees. With more than one provider, the office is always busy, ensuring days fly by.

Requirements

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Skilled at prioritizing tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively, efficiently, and in a timely manner with patients
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy
  • Ability to administer injections
  • Team player attitude
  • Excellent knowledge of medical terminology
  • At least one year of MA experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Urology experience desired
  • Epic experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Taking medical histories and recording vital signs
  • Recording vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature
  • Explaining treatment procedures to patients
  • Preparing patients for examination
  • Assisting the physician during the examination
  • Escorting patients to exam rooms
  • Interviewing patients
  • Documenting all information in patient’s chart
  • Giving instructions to patients as instructed by physician or physician assistant
  • Ensuring all related reports, labs and information is filed and available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment
  • Keeping exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies
  • Maintaining instruments
  • Preparing sterilization as required
  • Taking telephone messages
  • Providing feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
  • Triaging and processing messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and physician assistants
  • Maintaining all logs and required checks (e.g., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)
