In this role you will provide leadership and oversight to assigned group of medical assistants. Expectations include performing the responsibilities of a Medical Assistant as well as those appropriately delegated by the site director. Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Two or more years’ experience as an MA required.
  • At least one year of MA experience at Erie highly preferred
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant program required
  • Certified or Registered by accredited agency preferred.
  • CPR Certification – must be current at all times
  • Ability to effectively assess new and existing staff skills and competencies, identify gaps and conduct necessary training.
  • Ability to create/update standards that are measurable and objective and that can be used to track performance of medical assistant functions.
  • Ability to utilize clinical systems, reports and data to monitor effectiveness of staff, equipment and processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing with individuals and groups.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain a high level of organization for each task.
  • Phlebotomy skills for adults, infants, and children
  • Basic knowledge of pharmacology required for the scope of practice.
  • Computer skills including ability to accurately enter health information into an electronic medical record

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish) dependent on site and the patients served on that site preferred. (May be required to communicate with and assist non-English/Spanish only speaking patients and/or guests.)

Responsibilities

  • Supports a provider or providers for 100% of their day, unless otherwise assigned by their supervisor.
  • Collaborates with providers and nurses in the delivery of patient care.
  • Provides direct patient care that is typical and within the scope of a medical assistant.
  • Assigns and monitors duties and responsibilities of Medical Assistants.
  • Fairly balances staff and clinic needs.
  • Performs regular scheduled performance evaluations and 1:1 meetings with Medical Assistants.
  • Partners with HCO Director on crucial conversations with their team
  • Participates in the development and implementation of individual, group and community education programs.
