About The Position

Under general supervision, performs both front office and back office duties, including direct patient care and related support services. Responsible for assisting in the delivery of healthcare to patients in all specialty areas. This role mentors, trains, and provides guidance to clinic support staff, monitors provider daily schedules, and ensures all appointments are filled to capacity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a Medical Assistant required
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to travel to other clinic sites as needed

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year leadership experience in a health care setting preferred
  • Experience with EMR/EHR preferred
  • Experience in a primary health care setting preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Mentors, trains, and provides guidance to clinic support staff in day-to-day operations of the front and back office, ensuring timely and efficient completion of medical assistant tasks.
  • Administers injections, assists with non-invasive and direct patient care procedures (e.g., pap smears, EKGs, phlebotomy, minor surgeries, vision and hearing screenings, waive testing), and assists with medical examinations within the scope of practice.
  • Obtains patient medical history, vital signs, and ensures quality metrics are documented in compliance with Center policies and accreditation agencies; participates in and prepares for Center audits.
  • Maintains inventory of medical, immunization, and operating supplies; ensures equipment is calibrated, charged, and cleaned; stocks exam rooms.
  • Registers patients, updates demographics, verifies and activates insurance plans, and ensures accurate posting of encounter data and selection of correct funding/insurance plans; reconciles daily payments with EPM system.
  • Prepares for next day clinic by identifying appointment types and chart preparation; updates proof of income, pre-registers patients, screens for program eligibility, obtains member rosters, and schedules visits; monitors provider schedules to ensure appointments are filled.
  • Provides exceptional customer service, greets customers appropriately, addresses concerns, and assists other departments as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
