This position involves providing direct patient care procedures and related tasks within a surgical clinic. The Medical Assistant will assist with patient check-ins, obtain histories, take vital signs, prepare charts and Electronic Health Records (EHR), and support medical exams. The role also contributes to unit functioning by managing phone calls, delivering messages, and escorting patients and families. Care is provided under the medical direction of a Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) and administrative direction of the Nurse Executive or designee. The Medical Assistant will care for patients with various conditions, illnesses, and injuries, monitoring their status and reporting changes to the provider. Responsibilities include assisting in examinations, maintaining patient records in compliance with HIPAA, arranging appointments, and educating patients on medical issues. The role also involves practicing infection control, collecting and handling specimens, performing CLIA-waived testing, administering injections, and maintaining clinic supplies and equipment. Additionally, the position may assist in orienting new personnel and participating in relevant committees and training.
